Over 3,000 school heads, administrators and lay collaborators congregated in the much-anticipated annual assembly of Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines member schools as they anticipate the coming of their 75th year of committed work in 2016.
With high spirits, the delegates marked the opening of the five-year celebration towards the coming of the diamond jubilee with the theme “Remembering with Gratitude, Renewing with Fervour”. The celebration started with the Holy Eucharist presided by Most Rev. Luis Antonio Tagle, D.D, Archbishop of Manila and concelebrated by over a hundred priests.
In the opening remarks of Fr. Gregorio L. Banaga, Hr. CM, CEAP President, he welcomed the delegates and acknowledged not only CEAP partners and present officers but also all the previous officers and members of the Board of Trustees to which former SPCIS president Sr. Teresita Bayona, SPC belongs.
The annual convention featured talks and issues on Catholic mission and identity, recent trends and concerns affecting private education and school administration and operations, and public policy, advocacy and research in Catholic education from renowned speakers in the country and also in the United States.
Furthermore, Blessed Pedro Calungsod of Cebu was highlighted in the liturgies leading to his canonization as saint this October. Blessed Pedro, a catechist, will be the 2nd Filipino saint.
