GUIDANCE SERVICES UNIT CONDUCTS WEBINAR ON MENTAL HEALTH FOR PARENTS

Along with the effects of the pandemic to education is the added responsibility among
parents and guardians of looking after their children aside from managing their responsibilities in
work and at home. To help parents and guardians have a more sound mental health, the
Guidance Services Unit conducted the Webinar on Mental Health and Self-Care for Parents and
Guardians Amidst Challenging Times last May 7, 2022 via Zoom and MS Teams.

Ms. Karen Rose Vardeleon, RPsy, Founding Partner of Childfam-Possibilities
Psychosocial Services, explained some of the mental health burdens experienced by parents
and guardians and strategies to cope with these struggles. She also advised parents and
guardians of other strategies as she carefully and comprehensively answered queries during the
open forum.

“Let them (your children) be into your world so there is still a connection.” Ms. Vardeleon
advised to parents who are abroad.

Attendees of the webinar were parents ang guardians from the Basic Education to
Tertiary, along with viewers of the livestreamed session via the SPCIS Facebook Page.
